Is a state holding money with your name on it?

States hold about $70 billion in forgotten deposits, refunds and paychecks, and roughly one in seven Americans has some, according to the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators.

Tell us your name and every state you have lived in. We search them for free and email you what we find.

How it works

  1. 1You tell us where you have livedYour name, the states, and an email. Nothing a scammer would ask for: no Social Security number, no birth date, no bank account.
  2. 2We search the state recordsEach state keeps an official list of money it is holding for people: old deposits, refunds, final paychecks, insurance payouts, uncashed checks.
  3. 3You get the list, and claim it yourselfWho is holding it, roughly how much, and a link to the state's own claim page. Claiming there is free, and the money goes straight to you.

What we will never ask for.

Your Social Security number. Your birth date. A bank account or card. A fee, upfront or out of what you recover. We search and we send you the state's link; you file the claim yourself. If anyone claiming to be us asks for any of these, it is not us.

How to spot unclaimed money scams, and why we keep so little of your data

Questions people ask us.

Is this a scam?

Fair question to ask, because unclaimed-money scams are real. Here is how to tell: we never ask for a Social Security number, a birth date, or a bank account, we never charge a fee, and every result links to the state's own claim page, where you file yourself. Anyone asking you to pay to release unclaimed money is not us.

Do you take a cut?

No. We do not file claims for anyone and we do not take a percentage. You claim directly with the state, for free, and the state pays you.

Why is it free?

Scanley's day job is making businesses show up when people ask AI for a recommendation. Our agents found one of our founders $45.49 he did not know he was owed, and searching for everyone else is a better way to show what agents can do than an ad.

Where does unclaimed money come from?

Banks, employers, insurers, utilities and landlords have to hand money they cannot return to the state after a few years: a closed account's last balance, a deposit, a refund, a final paycheck. The state holds it for you indefinitely.

Why not search one national site?

You can, and you should. We do the searching, check the matches against your name, and send one list with the claim link for each, so it takes you a minute instead of an evening.

What do you do with my information?

We use your name, states and email to run the search and send the results. If you ticked the yearly check, we search again once a year and email you only if something new turns up. Reply to any email from us and we will delete your search.

Takes a minute. Costs nothing.

Name, states, email. We do the searching.
